IIIHR Program

The IIIHR program is looking for participants for the fall semester 2004, Spring and Fall 2005 quarter. This program is funded by Inje University in Kimhae South Korea. Located in Kimhae, South Korea, the IIIHR program was designed for Korean adoptees to come back to South Korea for a period of 3 months and immerse themselves in the Korean culture. Participants live on campus, room with a Korean roommate as well as teach two English classes per week. Each day of the week, participants attend classes from a professor at Inje University and learn about the culture, music, history, language, cooking, and other classes that are developed for each new semester. Each month, scheduled field trips around Korea are arranged for the participants. The cost for this program is a $600.00 entrance fee as of 2005 spring semester. The entrance fee of Fall semester in 2003 is $400,00. Participants are required to find and pay for their own plane ticket and of course extra spending money. InJe University supports room and board, tuition, text books, field trip expenses, and food. This program is open to any adopted Korean who is 17 years old and above.

Adoptee Voices

Adoptee Voices does just that - provides space for adoptees to tell our stories, experiences, and opinions to prospective and adoptive parents, adoption agencies, and those concerned about adoption. The Adoptee Voices program (formerly called Speaker’s Bureau) has presented panels for the Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.), the Barker Foundation, Catholic Charities, and Korean American Adoptee Adoptive Family Network (KAAN).

For agencies who are interested in hearing our voices or for adoptees interested in speaking, please contact us.

Adoptees Anonymous

This program, formerly known as Adoptee Forums, is an adoptee-only time to explore the various issues that adoptees encounter in a frank conversational manner. Adoptees Anonymous can center on a particular issue, be an open forum, or follow an adoption related film, book or article. These talks are informal and open to all adult adoptees. Past topics have included parental relationships, dating, and identity formation.

Book and Film Club!

Join the new Adoption Links Book and Film Club where we’ll read and watch videos on topics including, but not limited to, international and transracial adoption, books written by adoptees, race, culture, ethnic identity, etc. The club meets once a month at various locations and all adults are welcome.

Community Outreach

Join Adoption Links as we partner with various community-based organizations providing services to the community and joint sponsorship of programs. We have volunteered our time to assist Korean Americans with the naturalization process and participated in Family Day with Families with Children from China.

Special Events

Previous events include a book reading with Katy Robinson, author of A Single Square Picture and attendance at the 2003 Korean American Adoptee Adoptive Families Network (KAAN) Conference on July 25-27, 2003 in Arlington, VA. Future events will include film screenings, panel discussions, guest speakers, and social events.
